Welcome to my new site.

Hi all. So this is my new site.

I’m Carl, and I’m the author of The Time Hunters series of books. I’ve recently created this website and decided it was about time I started (and maintained) a regular blog. Obviously I will be writing about my own books, my influences, my creative process and anything else I think may be blog-worthy.

As for me, well I’ve been a big film geek since 1977 (I was 9 years old), when two films changed my life forever. The first was ’The Spy who Loved Me’ (I saw it in a smoky cinema on a rainy July day in Llandudno) and the second was (somewhat inevitably) ’Star Wars’. In many ways both these films directly inform the children’s books I write today. I love creating fantasy fiction grounded in a very human reality, which both these films but particularly Star Wars does brilliantly. As a matter of fact, ‘Star Wars’ is a huge influence on my latest book ‘Zak Fisher and the Angel Prophecy’. And if you don’t believe me just you wait until you see a little creation of mine called the Magnasword. As for other things I enjoy - well, Marvel Comics (especially the Fantastic Four), 80s Indie Music (The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order etc.), cooking, Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, second hand shopping, walking. naan breads, old buildings and blob fish.

I am also the father of two perfect children which is somewhat surprising as I am often quite rubbish.
